Holy Week – HOLY MONDAY

by | Apr 18, 2011 | Doctrine | 3 comments

Today is Holy Monday.  The next day, after the Triumphal Entry into Jerusalem (Palm Sunday), Jesus demonstrates to us the principle of the cursed fig tree.  Anything that does not produce fruit is disconnected from its original intent, therefore dying a slow death.  God help us! (Mark 11:12-14)

But later that day, He enters into the Temple and finds money changers and a marketplace in the place where people were supposed to be bringing sacrifices.

The people made it their intent to take what was supposed to be holy and turned it into a high-priced, profit-making entity.  Instead of people bringing their offering from their homes, they went to the temple and bought their less quality offering.  It was convenient for people and profitable for those selling.  It was all about selfishness, and greed! Sound familiar?

On Holy Monday, Jesus brought order to the house of Israel, the temple of the Lord! He said, My house will be called a house of prayer for all nations”.

We are now His temples and we are to be a “House of Prayer.”   Let him overturn the tables of convenience and greed in your hearts!  Let’s get our house in order!

Mark 11:15

On reaching Jerusalem, Jesus entered the temple courts and began driving out those who were buying and selling there. He overturned the tables of the money changers and the benches of those selling doves, 16 and would not allow anyone to carry merchandise through the temple courts. 17 And as he taught them, he said, “Is it not written: ‘My house will be called a house of prayer for all nations’? But you have made it ‘a den of robbers.
