Giving is another way of dying. Whatever we give to the Lord, we’re supposed to give it in sacrifice. And sacrifices are never absent from death.
Allow me to briefly expound… The Kingdom of God on earth rotates on the axis of life and death. And in the kingdom, death is not the end of life but the beginning of life. It’s the prerequisite of God’s glory.
God’s glory only comes on things that have first died and then brought back to life by Christ in a glorified state! In the Old Testament, whenever the glory of God was present there were sacrifices. When Moses went to the mountain to die another death to self, he returned with God’s glory. Jesus, when resurrected from the dead appeared with in a glorified body. And finally, us, when we pass on into eternity we will also have a glorified body.
Now back to the giving and dying point… Death is the prerequisite of God resurrecting in glory. So, when we give, we are dying to self by giving a part of our lives. We must know that when we give in death, he returns in glory!
So, the next time you fill that this giving is “killing you,” allow it! Until you experience it in a death, you will never receive it in glory!
