These last few days I’ve been studying paradoxes throughout the Bible. We’ll be teaching a four-part series on paradoxes in the months to come. Can’t wait!
I love how paradoxes work in the Kingdom. When engaged, paradoxes cause us to flow in God’s river and not the worlds’ canals. Paradoxes teach us and cause us to keep focused on Kingdom direction and not our own.
This morning I read a bit about how sorrow produces all kinds of good things. Got to love that paradox! Godly sorrow is not feeling sorry about our lives; it’s actually the opposite. Godly sorrow is birthed out of true repentance. Check it out…
10 Godly sorrow brings repentance that leads to salvation and leaves no regret, but worldly sorrow brings death. 11 See what this godly sorrow has produced in you: what earnestness, what eagerness to clear yourselves, what indignation, what alarm, what longing, what concern, what readiness to see justice done…. (2 Corinthians 7:10-11)
The way I se it, Godly sorrow seems to produce the very things we need to keep our focus and determination on our calling. Nope, we don’t need a motivational speaker, consultant, counselor or shrink. All we need to true Godly sorrow to keep us on target.
This sorrow will bring us to a place of productivity. So go ahead… CRY! Yes, I said it… CRY!! Cry out in sorrow! Cry out and repent of anything in your life that’s stopping you from being like Christ! Weep mourn and wail! It’s really good for you! It’ll produce in you what you really need to make a difference!
