Embracing a new direction and establishing a new culture is never easy. We all love the familiar. As much as we hate to admit it, we enjoy familiarity and the informality of our surroundings. This is true in the natural and most certainly in the spiritual.
We at IMPACT CHURCH have come to a sober conclusion in our efforts of ministry to our region. We’ve realized that if we are going to accomplish what God has placed in our hearts, there must be a greater understanding of prayer. And it’s impossible to realize true prayer and intercession without breaking away from familiarity.
Prayer forces you to make changes. Prayer clears the air and creates an environment of change. The will of God will never take us to a place of comfort, rather to a place of uncertainty. It is impossible to have a quiet existence and safe goals with a genuine understanding of prayer and the will of God in our lives.
It is because of our fallen state that familiarity is natural and instinctive to us – prayer is not. Therefore, we must make a conscious effort to build an ever-increasing discipline of prayer. For it’s the only way we will escape from the power-draining clutches of familiarity.
