Tim Tebow’s “Tebowing”

by | Nov 9, 2011 | Motivation | 7 comments

I’ve been a Florida State Seminole fan since I was in the 6th grade – I guess that would be most of my life.   And I must admit, the most exciting college player I’ve ever seen is Tim Tebow.  Yeah, I know, Tebow played for our nemesis, the Florida Gators.   I must admit the only time I didn’t cheer for him is when he played against the Seminoles.

As a born-again believer and a pastor, Tim Tebow’s story is an inspiration.  His work ethic and ability to fight through obstacles with his faith in Christ, makes every pastor pray that all his congregants share the same qualities.   The odds were against him in college and he overwhelmingly surpassed them.  And now, he’s fighting greater odds in the NFL and seems to be doing a great job in spite of his many critics!

Although he has many fans, He has many more “haters.” It’s very obvious that God has given him a tremendous platform.   He uses it wisely to exalt Christ.  He preaches with his lifeattitude and behavior.  He’s been an inspiration to many, many people!

But I have a PROBLEM

My problem is NOT with Tim Tebow, it’s with the mind-set of indifference, apathy and hypocrisy of our nation, in particular – our media!

It infuriates me when other players mock Tim Tebow praying before a game.  They get on one knee to mimic in mockery what is known as “Tebowing.”  They do it before a game and during the game!

Here’s what drives me crazy… Let’s just say that Tim Tebow was a Muslim and his “Tebowing” was bowing down to Mecca.  What do you think the media would say of other players mocking his actions?  I’ll tell you, they would go insane!  It would be considered offensive and discriminatory to mock the “sacredness” of other people’s religious rights.

So, why do you think nothing is done concerning the mockery of Tim Tebow’s “Tebowing?” It’s because we’ve grown to be an agnostic and Godless nation!  I love our country but I’m very concerned in the direction of it!

With that said, this has to be the finest hour for the church!  It’s in these times and conditions that the church, throughout history, has risen to be a brighter light in the midst of a looming darkness.

It’s time that we, the Christians, begin to do much more “Tebowing.”  Let’s pray and then share our faith even in the midst of adversity and mockeryLet’s distinguish ourselves from the rest, but at the same time loving those who mock the Christ inside of us!

Oh, and don’t forget, keep praying for Tim Tebow!!
